School Chaplaincy Service (SCS)

The School Chaplaincy Service at Lisarow and Narara Public Schools on Central Coast of New South Wales is 3 tiered:

Pastoral Care and Crisis Intervention
- provides pastoral and crisis care along with pastoral counselling to students, staff or family members in a range of situations.
- Offers advice and strategies for students, staff or family members facing difficult decisions
- connects with students, engaging them in a range of activities
- responds in critical incidents and emergency situations

Welfare and Enrichment Programs
- develops and facilitates programs and initiatives for students and family related needs that deal with social, behavioural, emotional and transition issues
- provides intervention groups when required
- presents seminars, workshops and support groups for parents and carers

Local School Liaison
- provides information and referrals to connect families to community groups, agencies, and professional services in the local area and online
- raises awareness of the SCS to the school and local community
- advises the school of any safety and welling issues related to students and families

School Chaplains must abide by the National School Chaplaincy & Welfare Program Code of Conduct and operate within a strong ethical framework which supports and upholds the 'Values for Australian Schooling'
